Although today’s generation of youth culture may have been exposed to more fanciful offerings of desserts such as frozen yogurt, gelato, soft serve and whatnot, there’s always a place in the heart for a good old-fashioned local dessert. One such example is our local favourite cendol — the familiar sweet sensation consists of finely-shaved ice loaded with thick Gula Melaka syrup, coconut milk, red beans and of course… the soft and chewy texture of green cendol strands.

Most of the best cendol came from the roadside stall, but the Grandmama’s air-conditioned restaurant in Pavilion KL is no slouch either with their authentic serving of cendol dessert. Although the price is relatively steep, the cendol here is sweet and creamy enough to satisfy your taste bud. The portion is big enough for sharing with bountiful amount of cendol and sweet corn over the finely-shaved ice.More info
