Best Popiah in Melaka

Written by Updated ago

As known by many, popiah originates from China. In other words, popiah can be described as a fresh spring roll made up of egg roll wrappers with fillings such as shredded jicama, julienned beancurd, lettuce and the combination of sweet and chili sauce. In Melaka, however, pork lard is one of the core ingredients in serving a popiah, and the addition of pork lard has gained the interest of many as it is simply irresistible! Thus, here you go with the best popiah in Melaka listing that is unfortunately mostly non pork friendly, with the exception of the Nyonya version which is prepared sans lard.

One of the pioneers and an immobile food on wheels in town, selling popiah. Bunga Raya Popiah has always been one of the top local favourites in town when it comes to sourcing for light bites such as the Pork Lard Popiah here. An adequate amount of juicy fillings are wrapped inside the popiah, accompanied by its usual chili and sweet sauce, in addition to having pork lard and fried dry chili paste for a more succulent taste! Some may find his popiah a little too oily due to the lard, but nevertheless, you can always request for a lesser amount. To avoid the hassle of queuing up on a busy day, they have a "Mobile Van" that goes around in town, too.
