Preferably called the roti kahwin here in Kota Kinabalu, what we know back in the city centre as roti bakar is no difference despite the varying names. One thing's for sure is that the goodness of kaya and butter in between two crunchy toast is to die for. Conventionally found in local coffee shops or kopitiam, places like your neighbourhood mamak tend to carry this delicious snack too. So, pair in a cup of hot coffee and look out for these roti bakar / roti kahwin in Kota Kinabalu.

Taking a twist from the local kopitiams, the mamaks here boast a good range of roti bakar too. Take Restoran Salim for example- a mamak which roti telurs and roti boms sell more than their roti bakar, but give them toast a try and you’ll definitely be bewitched. Throw in a soft boiled egg or condensed milk to elevate the flavours too.More info
