Arguably the most famous (and delicious) street food in Malaysia, a plate of char kuey teow usually consists of essential rice strip noodles, soy sauce, belacan, prawns, cockles, bean sprouts and chives. Common adaptations include ingredients such as eggs and chinese sausages. Traditional char kuey teow is fried in pork fat, thus giving the dish the ultimate tagline of 'unhealthy'. Nonetheless, we suppose an occasional bite of this delicious dish wouldn't hurt anyone (badly). Check out these places in Subang Jaya for a good ol' plate of char kuey teow!

Restoran Wong Soon Kee
Restaurant Wong Soon Kee rose to fame when Lim Fried Chicken began to garner attention. Following that, continuous queues were a common sight at the restaurant and patrons were willing to wait under the hot sun just to grab the nasi lemak and fried chicken. What's underrated here is the char kuey teow that is finally regaining its glory since Lim Fried Chicken moved out to a lot of its own. Since then, crowds have slowed down which is exactly what you need if you're only looking for some quickly served delicious char kuey teow!

Boon Char Kuey Teow
Boon Char Kuey Teow stall is situated within Restoran Lian Heng of SS19, Subang Jaya. While most people are here for the infamous pan mee, Boon Char Kuey Teow is the second common choice. We personally think that all street food is best when spiced with chilli but if you're not a fan of spicy food, do make sure to point that out to the cook when placing your order.

Restoran Meisek
Yet again another Malaysian restaurant that will make you swoon over all the dishes available. Literally translated as "have not eaten", Restoran Meisek is a great spot for you to fill that growling stomach. Certainly consider grabbing the char kuey teow here - it is deliciously charred and flavored with well seasoned ingredients. The place is pretty clean for a hawker centre too.

Sisters Char Kuey TeowCertified
halalSisters Char Kuey Teow @ USJ 16 is one of the shortlisted restaurants for the best char kuey teow for the year 2015 by TimeOut KL (voted by readers). Well, we can't claim we formally voted but we definitely would have if we had known earlier! The family recipe are of authentic Penang origins so it is pretty safe to say that the two sisters behind this kopitiam simultaneously brought a taste of Penang to Subang Jaya.

Uncle Jimmy Lee Lorong Selamat Penang Char Kuey Teow
Previously known as Restoran Lam Hing Leon, Restoran Yong Sheng houses one of the best char kuey teow stalls around. Well, we're clearly referring to Uncle Jimmy's stall at the moment. A plate oozes out fragrant soy sauce, fresh prawns and springy noodles. The char kuey teow here is not spicy; request for extra chilli if necessary. Uncle Jimmy's stall is also named after his hometown of Penang's Lorong Selamat.
