A good bowl of Ipoh Hor Fun, or more endearingly known as Kai Si Hor Fun is an all-around pleaser. Flat rice noodles (less dense and thinner than the Penang version) is drenched in rich chicken or prawn broth, and topped with slivers of poached chicken and prawns, then sealed with a sprinkling of chopped chives. Seemingly simple, yet it's one of those dishes that your belly begs for during a perfect cold weather. It may not be as pervasive as regular soupy delights like curry mee or koey teow th’ng, but we have left no stone unturned in Subang Jaya, to churn out a list of the best recommended Kai Si Hor Fun.

Kar Heong Restaurant
This modest restaurant has been making most of its name for its chicken rice but if you’re looking for another reason to visit, their kai si hor fun is delicious! Generously portioned, the pristine broth is replete with hor fun noodles, shredded chicken and prawns, and finished with chopped spring onions and fried shallots. The soup made from chicken stock and bones does nothing but perks up your palate, complementing the silky-smooth noodles and other savoury consorts in the bowl. For a complete indulgence, do add prawn dumplings and pork meatballs too, and for a zing of heat, their chilli condiment would do the job.

Restoran Meisek
A food court where locals cannonball over to be spoilt with choices that are wallet-friendly. Similar to any successful food court, during lunch and dinner hours, one can expect a full-of-life atmosphere. Among the well-patronised stall is the kai si hor fun, as the owner has been dishing out bowls that are delicious and generous. The bed of soft noodles lounging in the redolent soup is topped with chicken slivers and blanched greens. The best bet would be paired the bowl with crunchy beans sprouts as well as poached chicken. Do ask for chopped chillies for a tap of heat.

Restoran Park Way
Another food court that would win you over with a sheer spread of hawker stalls. Nothing to shout about the ambience, but each and every stall equally vies with their own flavour triumph. If you fancy something served piping hot and fulfilling, head over to the kai si hor fun stall. During peak hours, the stall owner is kept on his toes, churning out slurp-worthy bowls that are generously topped with shredded chicken and prawn wantons. Apart from savoury, the addition of greens and chopped chives employs a layer of crunch and a better diet. For a dose of heat, sprinkle their chopped chillies over.
