Best Dim Sum in Ipoh

Written by Updated ago

Born of Taiwanese origin but emerged in Southern China, dim sum is served in small bite-sized portions and is synonymous to 'yum cha' in Hong Kong. Although dim sum is meant to accompany tea, many cultures began to serve dim sum as early as five in the A.M and even till dinner time. Eventually, dim sum became an all-time favourite, literally. If you stay in or plan to visit Ipoh, check out these hot spots for the best dim sum in town.

With ample seating and fine interior, Royal China Restaurant (previously known as Tai Thong) is a fancy spot to head over to for your dim sum fix. Albeit its higher prices, quality is ensured, taste is divine and environment is comfortable. While some think that the restaurant is overrated, different people have different opinions, right? But one thing is for sure - Royal China is almost always fully packed with patrons. Therefore, we reckon there has just got to be something really special about this place. Afterall, no eateries can survive without its continuous support from fellow foodies.

Restoran Yoke Fook Moon Non halal 01f78899591256b47a2708a65f6538333b86089a30fbd22545a41deece4ea490

Another one of the 'Big Three' dim sum makers in Ipoh, Yoke Fook Moon pretty much takes all the night crowds simply because it is one of the very few restaurants that open for dim sum at night. However, that's not the reason why the eatery became a food hub. The real reason lies in the dim sum itself. Claimed by many to be their favourite, it is not a breeze to win that title especially in Ipoh whereby there are many famous dim sums around within a smaller radius. Although service has been criticized, Yoke Fook Moon is still fully grounded and maintaining its reputation (in dim sum, that is).
    Tips

A variety of dim sum fun available including noodle dishes.

    Things to expect

    Perhaps some bad service...

    Best with

Egg tart and Char Siew Bao.

    Price

    RM6.00 to RM12.00
