Awesome Canteen truly lives up to
its awesome title. This café would ring a bell to most fitness enthusiasts as
the food served here is mainly inspired by the paleo diet. For those who don’t
speak health and nutrition, a paleo diet involves lots of nuts, berries and
meat with minimal to no processed and dairy ingredients. Don’t worry, there are
other items on the menu for those of you who want regular food. Headed by a
team of husband and wife and seven other business partners, Awesome Canteen
began its roots in 2013 and is still going strong today with the café
constantly busy over the weekends. The interior is decorated with recycled
items with a touch of creativity, especially the plant wall and the vintage
items in a glass display.
Union Artisan Coffee at 3Damansara serves a variety of western favourites and cakes. Their signature dishes would be their coffee, chicken chop, seabass ratatouille and their burnt cheesecake.
Union Artisan Coffee 3Damansara is also a popular cafe to host events and can take up to 60 pax
Strangers at 47 is run by 3 young entrepreneurs who all have a passion for good quality and great tasting delicacies. This is a place where strangers from all walks of life can come together with one common interest: food. The interior is decorated similar to most modern café concepts: wooden tables, steel chairs, industrial shelves and concrete walls. Their menu only specialises in crepes and the many different versions they’ve concocted using their culinary powers. The names of these dishes make ordering them pretty darn amazing too. Imagine saying, “I’ll have the Lethal Shrooms and the Purple Rage please”.
This café has become widely popular amongst those who want their caffeine kick at weird hours of the night. Oddly enough, the interior and décor remind a lot of The Brew HouZe. Brick walls all around, a stationary vintage bicycle leaning against the counter, along with other quirky old school items lying around. The guys here love their Nutella, with two of their bestsellers being the Nutella cake and the Upside Down (Nutella-coated glass, topped with milk and a generous scoop of vanilla ice-cream). If you’re looking for something to fill you up, Rekindle offers meals like Smoke Salmon Turkey, Ham Cheese Tomato, Roast Beef and Croissant and of course, freshly brewed coffees to wash it all down.
Bucket B is an exceptionally family friendly cafe, do not be surprised to see the full-time parent having his or her well deserved break while their kids enjoy the amenities. The Cafe is suited to serving up to easily a group of 20 people in a gathering or a small family of 3. The ambiance, food, and beverages would excite both the young and the seasoned.
A favourite of regulars who frequent Bucket B, this british inspired eggs and toast all-rounded breakfast is one that both adults and kids adore. Being a kids menu item, those above said age might feel a tinge of awkwardness ordering this adorable plate of morning goodness, but do not hold yourself back from dipping these buttered sticks of toasts into them runny half-boiled eggs. It is said many adults have this as their favourite dish here. Equipped with a spoon and a fork, one is able to eat and enjoy this meal without getting all messy and sticky as the ones at home or in coffee shops. Imagine your everyday breakfast, just more fun.
Are you craving for Hong Kong’s Polo Bun? If yes, you can have a wonderful meal in All Day Polo Bun. A cosy little café with a name that’s fun to pronounce over and over again. Coffee Good Golly Miss Molly is nestled in Millennium Square, Section 14 and it does tick necessary boxes as a good neighbourhood coffee joint. Assembled with exposed brick walls and wooden flooring, one can unwind and relax over a good cup of coffee coupled with cakes and pastries. With Artisan Coffee beans found in the hopper, one can expect a pretty decent cup of coffee. Last but not forgetting, they serve good red (rooibos) tea too!
One might miss this café as it is hidden behind some trees. It’s located right next to a tandoori restaurant. As for parking, either you try parking outside or pay RM2 for the first two hours and RM1.50 for every subsequent hour or pay a flat rate of RM3 from 6pm – 6am in the Millennium Square’s basement.
Things to expect
No tax or service charge!!! Woohoo!!
Best with
Coffee aside, I would recommend the classic Tiramisu cake — creamy on the outside and spongy in the inside. Heaven.
Good Food & Co is a cosy little
place in Jaya Shopping Centre, offering a pretty decent variety of Western
delights without poking a hole in your wallet. Despite having two floors,
seating is fairly limited. As for their food, you'll be glad to know that everything
is made fresh upon order, and their popular items include big breakfast,
sandwich, baked eggs and pastas. Despite being inexpensive, quality is definitely on point.
All and all, if you're looking for something simple, cheap and delicious, Good
Food & Co is definitely well worth the visit.
This little, cosy hub is a cafe that fits the 'needle in a hay' phrase very well - it's so well hidden that you need to spend some time walking around for it. However, the journey wouldn't exactly be a waste as the cafe is worth visiting to begin with. The cafe and its decor are simple and even the menu sticks to many classic options, ranging from your favourite and comfort food like Big Breakfast and Egg Benedict. Portions are pretty generous and flavours are on point, so you sure leave this place with a wide smile.

Bean Brothers has been really
popular ever since they've started. This industrial and contemporarily designed
cafe was, believe it or not, started in Korea. Though it may not look like it,
that's where it comes from and you’re sure to spend a considerable amount of
time to take photos. Even the beans are roasted by their own specialist, which
ensures both quality and flavour of the beans. That's pretty much what Bean
Brothers is all about; stunning design, a cosy place and of course, awesome
coffees. So if you call yourself a coffee geek, there is no missing out the
Bean Brothers.
A cafe does not only need to remind you of brunch - Koh Xiao Ly, a superb patisserie believes a good cafe should come with good vibes and good desserts. The young owner showers her passion creatively with delicate and exquisite pastries and sweet desserts in this lovely bakery-styled cafe. Looking at the presentations and creative flavour combinations, one can never deny that each and every item served is made with close scrutiny. Overall, it’s a distinctive French parlour but the tiny tables and seats would fit guests visiting as a couple rather than as a group.
Sometimes, the ambience of a cafe plays a great role in a guest's perspective. Jeq's does not only offer good food but a cosy ambience to boot as well. This makes Jeq In The House the perfect place to catch a meal or to simply have a cuppa after a long day. Their food does not scream simple at all, as each dish is carefully curated with special recipes; like their citrus grilled chicken salad with honey mustard dressing, spicy crevette aglio olio. If you’re looking for something a little common, look forward to their egg benedict which tows along a beautiful presentation.

Visiting the ever increasing industrial-style cafes in town seem to be too mainstream for some cafe hoppers. If you prefer somewhere really different and unique, Otherwise Cafe is worth visiting as it is an extremely indie-looking cafe located at the most unexpected neighborhood area in Kelana Jaya.
Living up to its name, "Otherwise", you'd expect a total different ambiance in this cafe. It is a wedding photography studio with makeup and hair services by day, and transformed into a tastefully adorned hangout space during the evening.
In fact, this is one of the cafes that gets raves for detail, from the classic music playing at background, to all the vintage antiques at every nook and corner of the cafe.
Under the rustic atmosphere that makes us feel like we have stepped back in time, the best accompaniments would be a warm, comforting cup of coffee and a slice of homemade cake.
For those who fancy the coffee to have deep, full-bodied flavour and rich aroma, coffees served here is exactly what you are seeking for! Using Toraja dark-roasted beans by Sprezzatura, a local roaster in town, every cup here has strong earthiness and less acidity which may be admired by some coffee enthusiasts.
Their daily selection of cakes differ everyday, so you may be surprised by new flavors during each visit! But one good thing about it is, all desserts are fixed at one same price of RM11 each.
