Merchant's Lane is known as one of the famous cafes in KL, with lines of queue waiting to just be seated. With good reason too. One of the highly recommended dishes from Merchant's Lane is their Hongkie Beef Stew. Made in Cantonese-style, it's slow-cooked for 12 hours, making the beef tender and well braised.

    Tips

    Perfect with bread or noodles

    Things to expect

Long queues on weekends and limited seating

    Best with

    Signature dessert in Merchant's Lane

    Price

    RM15.00 to RM20.00

The term gyuniku in this establishment should give a clear idea that their speciality is everything beef. While what is served is different from typical beef stew, their beef soup is just a whack on the tongue (the good kind). It simply has that sweet, savoury taste with a thick consistency. The beef is braised in the broth long enough that a gentle bite rips the meat off the bones.

    Tips

No fancy schmancy promises but good food

    Things to expect

The beef soup is called Sup Tulang in the menu

    Best with

    Noodles

    Price

    RM15.00 to RM20.00

    Wildflowers

Wildflowers is really one of the more impressive places to be when you want Western mix Eastern food. Their Stewed Beef Brisket Bourguignon is cooked with Shao Xing wine (Chinese cooking rice wine). They're perfectly balanced with the wine bringing out the flavour of the meat. Topped with truffle oil, paired with Hainenese bread, this is such a treat!

    Tips

Pair with the bread and it serves such as tasty and yet light mid-afternoon meal

    Things to expect

It's on the pricier side but reasonable considering the premium ingredients used

    Best with

Their dessert which washes down the umami taste to clean the palate
