Rubberduck Cafe is nestled within the busy Plaza Damas which is full of shops and eateries. This humble-looking, alfresco cafe is quite easy to miss. To get there, exit Hartamas Shopping Centre through the Starbucks exit, cut through the first block of shops in front of you and then turn left. Rubberduck Cafe is right opposite Don’s Warong.
Upon entering, you will be greeted with the welcoming aroma of freshly baked pastries and fragrantly brewed coffee. The seating capacity is pretty small due to its open-aired nature. However, it is a great place for friends or family to gather and hang out at. Besides, it is the perfect spot to people watch, with families, friends and couples in love strolling around and curiously sniffing out the scents of muffins and croissants. And the interior is colourful and creative just like the menu.
They serve a variety of dishes from cakes and sandwiches to artisan coffee. Do dig into their choice of desserts. The Beetroot Chocolate Cake is moist and sweet but not cloying. Whereas, the Mango and Chia Seed Pudding has an amazing texture which is creamy with bites of chia seed. The taste is mellow with a hint of sourness. Their Smoothie Bowls are also a must try, with all sorts of healthy goodness packed in one bowl. There are two flavours, the Berry Smoothie Bowl (with granola, organic flax seeds, fresh fruits and coconut flakes) and Sunshine Bowl (with mango, banana, chia seeds and granola).
If you are looking for something savoury, do try out their Salt Beef Sandwich, served with ample amount of slow cooked beef brisket in a fluffy and soft baguette. The pickled gherkins and Dijon mustard that comes alongside compliment the taste well. Their Breakkie Wrap is also delectable, with avocado, smoked salmon and scrambled egg.
All in all, if you're looking for a quick hangout with friends and family over delicious mains, pastries and cakes, this is the place to be.
