Best Tom Yam in PJ

Go Thai is a place of visit when one is craving for delicious Thai food but, is broke at the same time. Located in the buzzing town of SS2, this humble cafe/restaurant is nicely tucked right next to the police station, near the durian street. The menu is fairly limited with a maximum of 15 items on the menu, but each one of them is done really nicely. The tom yam is only available in seafood option, but for RM12, it is quite the bargain. Though it is enough to feed 2, the bowl of tom yam can be easily consumed by 1 person. It is spicy, tangy and packed full of flavour and certainly is one of the best tom yam around SS2.

Sanoook is quite a fresh concept, where they blend Japanese and Thai cuisine to form something new. Using Japanese method of preparation and Thai ingredients, the fusion of flavours somehow just works really well. You will be exposed to things like the tom yam sushi roll, which is a standard roll of sushi doused in homemade tom yam sauce. On the other hand, if you are in the mood for some authentic tom yam soup, their version has quite the kick. It is rich, creamy and a little spicier than most. There is also another option for a clear-soup tom yam, which is much tangier in comparison. 

Cafe 9 is a neighborhood Thai restaurant located in Seksyen 17, PJ. However, their menu consists of a blend between Chinese and Thai cuisine, which might be confusing for first timers. But all and all, they are mostly Thai than Chinese. Moving on, the have 2 types of tom yam available - spicy red and tangy clear. The spicy red tom yam is the standard one you will find everywhere else, where it is packed with a generous amount of seafood and vegetables. However, the clear soup tom yam here is slightly more flavourful and distinct in comparison, and it is also packed with plenty of chicken and mushrooms.

Absolute Thai is another franchised Thai restaurant that is available in most shopping malls around Klang Valley. Unlike many others, their decor is fantastic. As for their menu, it is a compilation of traditional and modern Thai cuisine, with an eye for finesse, flavour and texture. As you will expect, the tom yam soup here is packed with flavourful from their own unique blend of spices, and filled generously with seafood or chicken. It is also a lot creamier than most places, which gives it that really smooth and rich flavour. Definitely a must order when you are here at Absolute Thai.

Thai Hou Sek, a pun that derives from the Cantonese language with the meaning 'extremely delicious', has just landed in Bandar Utama in November 2016. This restaurant, with the idea of quick and delicious Thai food, has gotten people to queue over 30 minutes, which is quite ironic. Interiorly, it is nicely designed with old elements such as timber pieces and black metal mesh. The menu on the other hand, is modern where the dishes are served beautifully in smaller portions. The tom yam too shares the same fate but the flavours are absolutely delightful.
