The Daily Grind
Located right inside Bangsar Village Shopping Centre, (I know, the parking there can be horrendous) The Daily Grind first opened a few years ago and this gourmet burger diner has been taking Kuala Lumpur over by storm! Aside from their burgers, their Red Velvet cake has caught our attention. Its portion is huge and let me repeat, HUGE! It has four layers of cake together with four layers of frosting. Instead of the traditional cream cheese frosting, they use butter cream frosting but for the portion, it is worth your sweet tooth to bear!More infoThe Daily Grind View restaurant

Mukha
The café’s name ‘Mukha’ is predominantly Yemen-inspired and pretty much a secluded hipster joint for this part of town. Located behind the famous Artisan Roast, they have someone to compete against with too! Mukha has very decent cakes and coffees especially their Red Velvet cake. It’s a pretty large portion with more cake than cream cheese frosting (yummy!) and the frosting is not as sour. Besides that, the moist sweetness of the cake goes very well with a hot cuppa joe.More infoMukha View restaurant

Harrods
Savour the taste of the most original English tea together with its cakes, pastries and miniature desserts (small but delectable!) that are just right for a fulfilling pleasure of the many tea time selections in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Officially launched in the year 2009 by former Prime Minister, Y. A Bhg Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Famous for their English inspired spread and design, Harrods is also popular for their minute desserts such as their red velvet cupcake. Bite-sized and moist, the mini cupcake is sweet and the cream cheese frosting on top is a little sour but nonetheless, both flavours complement each other really well!More infoRelated articles you might like

Swich Cafe
With two outlets to choose from, Swich Café is both available at HP Towers Semantan and also at Publika Shopping Gallery. Swich Café has a lot of interesting varieties of cakes to choose from; Mangosteen cake, Burn Sugar cake and also their famous Red Velvet. It has a light hint of cocoa, but not enough to call it a chocolate cake. Its cream cheese frosting is thick and sweet. Those who fancy orange peel are in luck as their Red Velvet has a little zest of orange peel in the frosting.More infoSwich Cafe View restaurant

Mulberry Restaurant
If you’re looking for a place to chill after work or have happy hour with colleagues and friends, Mulberry Restaurant is the place to go to. Located at Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur, the Charlie Chaplin inspired restaurant is a cosy hang out spot that also has a bar at the side. Christmas is coming and so is their Red Velvet cake. It’s special because instead of just a regular moist and sweet cake, it is also paired with apricot crème cheese and fruits such as red grapes, blueberries and mulberries at the side. Sugar high is what you’re going to get after consuming this one of a kind Red Velvet cake!More infoMulberry Restaurant View restaurant

Marmalade Cafe
The Marmalade Café has two locations; Bangsar Village and Solaris Dutamas. As transparent as its name, the interior of the café is a warm tinge of yellow, just like marmalade. Even the lamps and sofa seating are yellow! There also a few choices of vegetarian dishes for those who opt for it. Its Red Velvet has two layers of thick cake and also a very dense portion of cream cheese in the middle. Sweet and satisfying!More infoMarmalade Cafe View restaurant

The Apartment
Strategically located at Suria KLCC and The Curve, The Apartment is warm and welcoming combined with comfortable yet modern interior design. With the delightful aromas of food and coffee in the air with holiday music playing in the background, The Apartment is a great place to come with family and loved ones to wind down and relax. Their Red Velvet cake is proportionately well with equal amount of moist cake and cream cheese frosting. Other than that, it is also pleasing to the eye. With a dash of thick strawberry sauce on top and a drizzle of chocolate sauce at the bottom, it’s hard to concentrate on which part you should start eating first!More infoThe Apartment View restaurant

Espressamente Illy
Espressamente Illy has conquered the world by its sumptuous coffees. It is found by Francesco Illy dating back from 1933. 230 cafés in 34 countries worldwide later, Espressamente Illy finally has a store on its own in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Although their coffee always makes me salivate, their Red Velvet cake is a bit under par for me. The cream cheese frosting is a bit hard and the cake is slightly too sweet. Decoration wise, it’s fantastic. Pair it with an Illy coffee, it is actually not a bad investment for the stomach.More infoEspressamente Illy View restaurant

Just Heavenly
After a long day, a slice of heaven from Just Heavenly will do the trick. Located at Bangsar Shopping Centre, their outlet is modern painted white, airy and spacious – just how I think heaven should look like! The Red Velvet cake is also pretty unique. Other Red Velvet cakes would have a tinge of cocoa flavouring in their cakes but not Just Heavenly. Instead of cocoa flavouring, they use rose-tinted chiffon as their cake with light whipped cream cheese on top. It is light and fluffy to the taste buds!More infoJust Heavenly View restaurant
