For Hakkas or vegetarian, you all might know what Lei Cha is, and for those who don't, it's basically a compilation of vegetables in a bowl followed by a tsunami of green tea 'broth' or 'soup'. It may sound a little odd, but then again, it is. Having said that, if done correctly, a bowl of Lei Cha can be absolutely delightful. Plenty of textures to go around and the flavours certainly are quite distinct. It's either a like-it or hate-it kinda thing. So be wary.

Big Bowl Cafe
You know you're in a good spot for some lei cha when the cafe itself is half painted in green. The lei cha, being one of the signature dish, comes with a large bowl of assorted vegetables, peanuts, rice, noodles and of course, the green tea soup itself. Mix it up all you'll be exposed to a plethora of flavours, as well as a play of texture. It's fragrant, light, slightly savoury and ultimately, delicious. Oh, it's really cheap too!

Freshness is also something that they are very particular at, ensuring each serving of lei cha served is as great as it can get. Lovely amount of chai oh, lovely cooked vegetables, crunchy roasted peanuts, and dried shrimps. It also comes with a side of aromatic green tea broth.

Kun Yam Thong temple
Believe it or not, this temple has a pretty huge cafeteria within. They offer humble selection of vegetarian dishes, one of which is the famed lei cha and economy rice. For the lei cha, it's packed with generous amount of cooked vegetables and a flavourful bowl of green tea soup. Though they do not use MSG or any artificial flavourings, it still taste pretty good!
