Cilantro Restaurant & Wine Bar
Cilantro's return to the local fine dining was much celebrated in 2010 and so was the man who brought the restaurant to fame, Chef Takashi Kimura. When it was first opened, CIlantro was the gold standard for any restaurant aspiring for excellence and it still is. Although inspired by French cuisine, Chef Kimura has made beautiful music in the kitchen, allowing the marriage of two beautiful cultures in Cilantro, French and Japanese. Longtime crowd favoourites incude the cold angel hair pasta and the 8-course degustation menu for the ones with deep pits as stomachs. The quality of the ingredients is beyond compare and the portions here are so skilfully measured that one never walks out of the restaurant feeling too full nor too empty.More infoCilantro Restaurant & Wine Bar View restaurant

Rendez-Vous
Conveniently located at the heart of Bangsar, this commodious restaurant has been reaping up praises for their authentic French delicacies that are pretty gentle to the wallet. From starters like bruschettas with smoky ham and cheese to hearty mains like pork tenderloin, pan fried frog legs with soja sauce, chicken cordon blue and delectable dessert like chocolate mousse – everything deserves a tip of the hat to the head chef, Florian Nigen who devises his three decades experience in Brittany to every plate. Another behemoth here is their Brittany-style seafood platters where one can relish ocean goodness like prawns, langoustines, whelks, oysters, winkles, cockles and the gigantic French spider crab! Tipples-wise, wines and champagnes are available to further augment the flavours in a setting that stays true to the name of the restaurant.

Either you dine by the pool or perch close to the floor-to-ceiling windows that look out to the lush green surrounds, one would certainly be perked with Valentine’s vibes just about any day. Brittany lobsters bisque, smoked salmon and avocado salad, roasted snails in red wine sauce and foie gras deserve special shout-outs. With an impressive wine cellar housing more than 150 labels, you can’t leave the dining space without a glass or two.

View in Google Maps Cantaloupe
Headed by renowned chef Chris Bauer, Cantaloupe has been earning rave reviews and collecting awards since its launch in 2013, which makes it the perfect choice for this list. The French restaurant is housed within Troika Sky Dining, occupying the 23rd floor and offering an astounding view of the city skyline. We are, by no means, technically knowledgeable on the ins and outs of the French culinary arts but the dishes at Cantaloupe screams of elegance and a class of its own. Innovation and attention to detail are obvious in its roast wagyu rump, lobster risotto and beef cheek ravioli (just to name a few).*Check out their website for their monthly menuMore infoCantaloupe View restaurant

Yeast Bistronomy Boulangerie - Bistro & Bar à Vin.
Carbs has never looked so good until Yeast opened up shop in the bustling streets of Telawi, Bangsar. Three concepts rolled into one: Bakery, Bistro and Bar, Yeast combines the 2 most important aspects in French dining: Bread and Wine. The interior design is also very French and by French, we mean the unintimidating black and white tiled floor and fuss-free ambiance, which belies its European nature.Despite that, the restaurant however, maintains exclusivity by prioritising reservations instead of entertaining walk-in customers. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are completely different affairs at Yeast and the menu is filled with classic French fare such as foie gras, escargot, macaroons and creme brulee. Prices range from moderate to fine dining range but what is most important is that the food makes you feel good and Yeast nails that hard.More infoYeast Bistronomy View restaurant

Lafite
Lafite boasts classic French dishes and an extensive collection of wines (though Cantaloupe still takes the cake for biggest collection). As of late, Chef Jean-Philippe Guiard has transformed Lafite's menu with haute cuisine which is the signature for every great French fine dining. The crayfish spaghetti timbale was certainly a unique looking dish but hey, anything with caviar sounds good to us. The wagyu beef, is spectacular as well, but a warning for non-liver fans, duck liver is part of the dish. Lafite's staff are a very attentive bunch of people, so attentive that they will even provide you magazines should you request for them. We also witnessed how rose petals adorn a couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary (how sweet of them). All these makes up for a very exquisite and romantic French restaurant.More infoLafite View restaurant

Cafe Cafe
Remember when we referenced Café Café in our other article for being one of the best fine dining spots in KL? Yeah, here it is again. Café Café and its exquisite interior design is unmatched by any other restaurant. Art decor: check. Draping chandelier: check. Outstanding French food: double check. The dimly lit atmosphere just adds more to the Parisian date kind of feeling. Aside from the wagyu beef which melts on your tongue like melted butter and foie gras mentioned in the previous article, the Stir Fried Fettucine with Truffle Oil is highly commendable. Good news, we do not need to book a flight to France now!More infoCafe Cafe View restaurant

Chez Leoniel
Chez Leoniel is a small café within the French Alliance building that serves authentic French cuisine. One of the signature dishes here is their duck dish. Confit de Canard is a dish that is all about patience for that deeper flavour. The duck is oven-roasted for 14 hours, then dunked into duck fats and let dry and finally oven-grilled at a high temperature for 10 minutes until the outside is nice and crispy. The meat remains tender and moist, and the contrast with the outer skin made all the difference. Served with roasted potato slices, also dunk in duck fat, and salad lightly dressed, it is a simple meal with big flavours that is definitely worth trying. And while you’re at it, why not go for the Bread Platter? Nothing says more French than the finest of French bread, served with butter. Go all the French way by dipping the bread in the Pesto Soup concoction of risotto, tomato, French beans, onions and other vegetables.

Cafe de Paris
Meals at Cafe de Paris isn’t only about mains with robust flavour combinations as one can expect succulent sandwiches, bites of tartines and couple of Mediterranean platters too. Due to its popularity and all-around delicious dishes, it’s habitually teeming with patrons. If you’re keen for something light yet but authentically French, opt for their Vintage Brittany sardines which are aged in a can with olive oil for a couple of years and best consumed with toasted French bread. And if you’re in the mood to eat till you drop, assorted pastas and moreish meats are up for grabs. For a happy ending, the French way, kaleidoscopic spread of macaroons, pavlovas, chocolate palet, raspberry soufflé and other confectionaries lure to be released from the glass shelves. Beverage-wise, a myriad of boozes and freshly brewed coffees from one of the best baristas in town surely do not disappoint.
