Puchong Yong Tau Fu @ Bandar Puteri Puchong

When it comes to Yong Tau Fu, most people will immediately think of Ipoh or Penang. But did you know that a humble looking stall in Batu 14 Puchong is also famous for their Yong Tau Fu? Now, you don’t have to travel into the depths of the city to sample their famed Yong Tau Fu as they’ve now opened a branch is Bandar Puteri! The relatively newer shop lot is easy to find, with a striking orange signboard. The interior of the shop is simple, comfortable and relatively spacious.

Upon entering, you can head to the corner to pick your own un-stuffed Yong Tau Fu. They offer a wide variety here such as bitter gourd, red chilli, bean curd skin, ladies finger and brinjal. Put the Yong Tau Fu of your choice in a bowl using the tongs provided and hand it over to the person in charge. A piping hot bowl of Yong Tau Fu will be served to you on your table in no time.

Their Yong Tau Fu is stuffed with a generous amount of fish paste that has no unpleasant muddy taste at all. Instead, it is sweet with the aroma of fresh fish with a pleasantly spongy texture. The soup also brims with sweetness, going perfectly with the Yong Tau Fu. There is an abundance of gooseberry in the soup which adds to the flavour. Unlike the Ipoh variety which is usually served with noodles, the Yong Tau Fu here is served with white rice.

You should also sample their Paper-Wrapped Chicken, which is well-garnished. With ginger, sesame oil and oyster sauce. It is extremely well-marinated and goes well with white rice.
