When it comes to Hokkien Mee in Subang, the locals will definitely suggest that you try Ah Wa in SS14, which is said to be one of the best in that area. Housed in Restoran Unlimited, Ah Wa Hokkien Mee actually originated from Petaling Jaya. They opened another branch due to the enthusiastic support from patrons. They are open for 22 hours every day, only briefly drawing their blinds from 9:30 to 11:30 every night, making it the perfect place for supper. The interior is simple just like any other hawker stalls in Malaysia but comfortable enough to sit and chat over delicious food.

Upon entering, you’ll be greeted by the fragrant aroma of black soy sauce and sparks flying off stoves. As their name suggests, you’ll probably go ‘wa’ at the first bite of their famed Hokkien Mee. The noodles are cooked the traditional way using charcoal and is slightly oily, black and extremely appetizing. It comes with a generous amount of rendered pork lard with the perfect crunchy texture. They also include a lot of prawns, pork slices and vegetables in the noodles. The noodles are thick with a toothy and starchy texture that goes well with the overall flavour. If you want to add a spicy twist to your meal, do add some of their sambal belacan which is thick and delectably pungent.

While waiting for your Hokkien Mee to arrive, do give the Lala there a try too. Juicy and spicy at the same time, it makes for the perfect appetizer. The Chicken Wings is also a must try, marinated with deep fried belacan.
