Strategically located in the popular commercial district of Damansara Uptown, the name of this pastry café says it all. Owned and managed by three young entrepreneurs (Alex, Chrissane and Irene), A Pie Thing is a first-of-its-kind café specialises in savoury and sweet pie varieties.
Among the signature savoury selection here such as Chicken Mushroom Pie, Cheesy Chicken Pie and Chunky Steak Pie. Vegan, in the meantime, can look forward to Creamy Spinach Pie. For those who prefer their pies sweet, there’s the Apple Crumble Pie (which comes with a scoop of ice cream), S’mores (a chocolate pie comes with roasted marshmallows) and Lemon Curd Pie. If you are looking something out of the ordinary, there’s the tender Pulled Lamb Pie or the Elvis (a pie packed with a sensational mix of banana, chocolate and peanut butter mousse).
If you order a savoury pie, you have a choice to go à la carte or a special set known as “The Mashacre”. Here, the pie of your choice is added with a trio of delicious toppings including gravy, peas and mashed potato. If that’s not enough, you can choose to pair “The Mashacre” with a cup of soda (Ginger Ale, Bitter Lemon, Root Beer, Lemon Lime Soda or Soda Water) or a bottle of mineral water.
Unlike most cafes and restaurants that dish out a piece of pie on a plate, A Pie Thing serves their pies uniquely on a paper box and comes with a customised wooden fork. Apart from their existing pies seen on a display counter, A Pie Thing also offers seasonal pies during festive seasons such as Christmas, Halloween and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
