Since 1990, Bee Gaik Dining Place has been serving their customers with appetizing spicy Curry Asam Fish Head, the authentic Nyonya Kapitan Chicken, other Nyonya-styled dishes and local favourites. The down-to-earth restaurant has become one of the strongest legacy in the Nyonya-Chinese dining scene in Ipoh. Tucked in Ipoh Garden South, this wallet-friendly eatery is always full of customers every night, particularly on weekends and public holidays. You might want to make an early reservation in order to avoid waiting for a table or climbing stairs to the first floor.

Flipping through the menu, you will see all the delicious Nyonya and Chinese classic dishes on each pages. If you come in a big group, you can always settle for the set menu. If you are a fan of Joo Hoo Char, you will love Bee Gaik’s version. Their version is ideal for people who are concern about the robust, pungent or overwhelming ‘stench’ of the dried cuttlefish and boiled turnip. Sweet, juicy, and not as moist or strong in flavour compared to some, this one is simply a wonderful treat.

If you go for the set menu, do expect a regular kind of portion, but it is surprisingly enough for everyone. In case you find it not enough, you can always order other ala-carte dishes including the popular otak-otak (steamed fish paste wrapped in banana leaves), perut ikan (a very traditional Nyonya cuisine not usually obtainable elsewhere), the ever classic fish head curry or everyone’s favourite Tung Poh Yuk (braised fatty pork belly served with steamed buns).

If you are looking for the perfect place for a gathering, you should consider Bee Gaik Dining Place. With the reasonable price range, cosy setting, fast service, and good quality of delicacies, this restaurant is totally worth visiting.
