Located in Cedar Point food
centre near Hotel Grand Paragon in Taman Century is Hong Kee BBQ Chicken, one
of the many stalls that the food court houses. The stall is owned by by Mr.
Hong and his wife, both of whom are natives from Batu Pahat. The two have been
at the helm of serving some of the most famous plates of chicken wings for 3
decades, and show no signs of slowing down.
When it comes to the chicken
wings themselves, Hong Kee BBQ Chicken goes against the grain by serving up
their chicken wings with a savoury marinate. This is certainly a welcome change
from the sweeter BBQ marinade often used in a plate of chicken wings. The plate
also comes with half a lime, and a side plate of chilli sauce to further add
flavour to the wings. Fans of the chicken wings from here often note how well
cooked the chicken wings are, which is more often than not attributed to the excellent
heat control Mr. Hong has developed from years of experience. Besides this, Mr.
Hong uses only chilled fresh chicken and not frozen chicken, which is known to
affect the juiciness and tenderness of the chicken to a great extent. The great
thing about all this is that it is all very affordable; a great incentive for diners
to come back for more.
