Best Ramen in KL

Written by Updated ago

Ramen has become increasingly popular in recent years. In the past, ramen is only available in Japan and perhaps some other renown cities such as New York, London or Orchard Singapore. The dish that came closest to a ramen would be Udon and Soba noodles. Though not exactly the same, those were the only Japanese noodles available to our local market. Ever since the year 2010, ramen specialized restaurants and companies from Japan have started mushrooming in Malaysia. The problem is, which the notable ones are and which aren’t. Hence, here is a list of the best ramen places in Kuala Lumpur.

Rankings of all participants as visible on our listings are solely voted by you, our beloved readers. With that said, we would encourage you to please vote for your preferred participants in order to ensure their rightful positions ranking-wise on our portal. Thank you!

Like most ramen joint, the key to a good ramen is 3 things. The consistency and springiness of noodles, depth of flavour of broth and fresh additional ingredients such as char siew or broiled egg. Furthermore, quite a number of their ingredients are imported from the main kitchen in Japan as well.

    Yamagoya Ramen

As the first Kyushu Ramen in Malaysia, Yamagoya Ramen inevitably stands out from the rest. Kyushu style ramen typically uses pork bones as their primary ingredients its broth. With a high degree of heat, the intense flavour of the bone marrow will be released into the soup, making it rich and flavourful. Besides that, the fact that they have a ramen machine ensures the quality, freshness and consistency of your noodles.
    Tips

Might want to drink up. Pretty salty.

The Karai Chicken ramen at Izumi delivers on what's expected out of a bowl of ramen in terms of presentation. There's the perennial decorated fish cake, a half of a full boiled egg, and a slew of vegetables that float on top of ramen noodles and soup. This bowl of soup also delivers on flavours and taste. The soup is rich and full of flavour, with a light consistency that's perfect for drinking. The noodles have absorbed all this flavour very well, making the noodles a pleasure to slurp on. The crunchy vegetables and the fish cake add an additional textural dimension that further elevates the bowl.
