Tirai Ratus Shah Alam

Tirai Ratus is an establishment in Shah Alam’s Section 3 that serves up a variety of Southern Malaysian dishes right here in Klang Valley. Taking up two shop lots, the restaurant has an ample spaces to cater to any crowd they might have.Various reviews have mentioned about the food prowess of this restaurant as most of the food offered have quite exceptional tastes. The name of the shop is merely a name as the interior does not have hundreds of hangings though their ceiling fans and lights do extend a little bit lower that supports the idea of ‘hanging’. Like what one would usually expect from a Malay restaurant, the décor is kept minimal and the walls are painted in a light green colour that is not easy to miss.

There are various cuisines offered here, with some western selection added to the existing local menu. Of course for any restaurant that specialises in Johor cuisine, it is a must to have southern style Beriani Rice and Mee BandungComes in the usual choice combo of chicken, beef or lamb, the most common choice is the chicken while the next daring choice is the lamb. A set would come along with a side of dalca gravy and acar pickles.

The rave about this restaurant however, lies with the existence of Murtabak Singapore. The addition of cheese definitely brings this dish to higher level than it already is. Kacang Pool is another delight available here. A dish hailing from Johor Bahru, this mix of red beans, minced meat and various spices and ingredients, eaten with bread is heavenly to anyone who have tried it before. Other must try includes Tirai Ratus’ Special Rice Porridge, Mee Rebus Johor, and Nasi Ayam Balado.
