Unlike your average Chinese seafood restaurant, Shell Out is a modern seafood joint with a difference. When you step into the restaurant, you’ll be greeted with all the colourful graffiti adorned all over the walls. In fact, don’t be surprised if you even find more graffiti on just about any flat surface: the tables, chairs and even above along the ceiling. This is because the owners of the restaurant believes it gives Shell Out a unique sense of belonging and personality. So, all you have to do is ask one of the friendly staffs for a marker pen to scribble your own doodles.

Shell Out is first and foremost known for its “down-and-dirty” seafood concept. This is a place where proper table manners are out of the question, as the whole idea here is to get your hands messy and your fingers busy with the seafood.

To order, there are merely four simple steps to follow: First up is called “What’s Your Catch?” whereby you get to pick the seafood of your choice. Here, you can expect a wide range of seafood varieties such as crabs, king prawns, clams, scallops, and crawfishes (yabbies). The next step is “Pick Your Sensation”, where you either choose Original or Malaysian-style sauce. The third step is “Spice Up”, where you get to choose how spicy you want for your sauce. You can select either mild, medium or OMG (think Nando’s, and you’ll get the idea). Finally, you can choose to add on side dishes such as broccoli or corn on the cob, for that extra oomph.

Saving the best for last, Shell Out prides itself on the fact their seafood is freshly supplied every day. With that said, do pay them a visit. Trust us, it is a decision you're unlikely to regret.
