Opened in July 2015, Eat @ J's occupies Petaling Jaya’s most tranquil location for a coffee shop; an 8-year-old shop lot that used to be the owner’s previous business surrounding by a housing area. It’s hard not to notice the big signboard and the vintage wooden door in front of the café. Patrons love coming by to relax while enjoying a cup of coffee with the cosy and simple ambience. The owner of this eatery, Sue, is a pastry baker and after living a few years in Melbourne, she decided to open a relaxing café with cosy interior like the ones she used to visit in Australia.
In order to get the customers to return to their café for more, the menu is changed from time to time, be it savoury food, pastries, or cake. Everyone in the crowd looked very happy, and the food – Croissant, Burgers, Salmon Steaks – looked great. If you are a fan of salmon, you should definitely try the Grilled Salmon On Bed of Sautéed Spinach, Roasted Potato, Pearl Barley and Cherry Tomatoes. The salmon is nicely pan grilled resulting in a beautiful juicy texture. The dish is simple and healthy without reducing any of its delicious flavour.
However, you should not leave the restaurant without trying their signature dish – the Honey Balsamic Chicken with Mash Potato and Roasted Pumpkin and Green Beans On Side. The beautiful chemistry between honey and chicken can be tasted in the dish with a hint of balsamic vinaigrette. The ingredients then enhance the sweetness of the chicken meat, with the adding of cubed pumpkins on top of it while being pan-fried till a medium-soft texture.
These days, it is hard to find a great restaurant and café where they put all of their effort in creating the best quality food to their customers. But for now it is safe to say, Eat @ J's is another great café that provides good comfort food and great coffee.
