The vicinity of Dutamas is no short of cafes, and one of the most revered ones is Two Sons Bistro. It’s a family-run business, under the stewardship of a married couple and the name of the restaurant epitomise their two toddlers. Cute.
The interior is kitted out with a clever mix of rustic and sophisticated elements with a notion to win over the hearts of cafe nomads out there. Also, their garden terrace deserves a mention, an ideal spot to put up your feet and grab a cup of cuppa while watching the world go by.
Be it word of mouths or online reviews, the main draw here is the steaming hot pot of mussels which comes in a jaw-dropping 16 varieties – spiced tomato and beef chorizo, oregano and sour cream, Thai green curry, tom yam, paprika butter and so on. The mussels are fresh and the portion is quite generous, best for sharing before heading over to the mains. The balmy bowl is paired with garlic toast bread which helps you mop up the additive gravy clean. Not a fan of mussels? Do swap for clams, which are equally good.
Regular usually knows what’s next on the agenda for the mains, steaks of course! The head chef was a senior member at Morton’s The Steakhouse in Singapore, therefore one can definitely set a high expectation on the manner of meats here. Done to your liking, your choice of meat is commonly served with potato, creamed spinach and sauces.
Seeking a shift from steak? Decent selection of pastas are up for grabs. The most ordered item is their lamb meatballs linguine, where the bouncy meatballs are stuffed with hard-boiled quail eggs. The best part? The flavours are on par with their innovation. Other dishes that are highly recommended are their waffles (both savoury and sweet version), big breakfast and assorted Western delights.
Under the dessert category, options are wide, but be sure of wrapping your lips around the baked apple with a generous filling of crème brulee custard. If you’re a cake lover, you won’t be disappointed with the selections too. Beverage-wise, freshly brewed coffees and fresh juices are available.
In a nutshell, from sweet tooths to meat-guzzlers, Two Sons Bistro is the place to be for all walks of life.
