Chinese pastries are no doubt a scrumptious delight to many especially in the heart of Penang. One of the most treasured places that have been established since over 30 years ago; Ming Xiang Tai Pasty Shop in Armenian Street claimed as one that’s popular with Chinese pastries. It started off as a small trishaw cart selling egg tarts. From a humble trishaw cart, has now turned into four successful pastry shops around Penang including the outlet in Armenian Street.

This particular pastry shop lodges a pre-war building which is commonly found in Penang due to its historic heritage. The interior of the shop is designed in an authentic oriental style keeping most of its infrastructure as originally built. This is to preserve Penang’s natural heritage. The shop is quite narrow in terms of length, however, the simple arrangement of the shop gives a cosy and comforting feel. When stepping into Ming Xiang Tai, there’s a sense of nostalgia of the past. Round wooden tables and chairs are arranged inside the shop, however, there are only a couple of tables, therefore, most of the time customers step in to buy the pastries to take away.

Ming Xiang Tai first started off with their signature Trishaw Egg Tarts. After expanding their business, there have been other pastries where customers tend to purchase such as the Pandan Lotus Pastry Salted Egg pastry, crispy yam puff, salted egg pastry and the pandan paste egg tart. It has boosted a lot of good reviews by customers for its fresh and high-quality pastry.

This pastry shop brings out the essence of good quality Cantonese pastry right from their ovens.
