Loh Pan Mee @ Jalan Perusahaan Ringan Setapak

Nestled along Jalan Perusahaan Ringan in Setapak, this modest-looking outpost holds a whole lot of culinary surprise up its sleeves, specifically in the noodle department. Aptly dubbed as the Noodle Shack by the locals, this particular spot brings about a tantalizing array of noodle dishes to sate the appetites of locals craving for smooth, springy bites.

In terms of its menu, the noodle joint has two permanent items available daily -the aptly named Dry Noodle and Soup Noodle, served with assorted condiments, topped with fried shallots and appetizing minced meat; while others rotate based on a roster, where dishes differ depending on the days of the week. For five days -Monday to Friday; in a week, each day presents a different dish to placate the taste-buds of its patrons, so much so that it never gets old.


Monday brings forth their own rendition of refreshing Asam Laksa to chase away the Monday blues while Tuesdays and Wednesdays connote the presence of two special dishes: the Curry Laksa and also Dry Curry Chicken Noodle. On Thursdays, visiting patrons will be treated to a scrumptious bowl of Hokkien Har Mee (Prawn Noodles) and last but not least, on Friday, the Noodle Shack opens its doors to its patrons with Pan Mee and also Loh Pan Mee.

Needless to say, among its arsenal of noodle delights, Loh Pan Mee sounds the most peculiar, by far. A curious fusion between two original noodle dish, the Pan Mee and the Loh Mee; the Loh Pan Mee enables patrons to have the best of both worlds, the springy bite of the home-made egg noodles of Pan Mee and also the addictive and savory starchy broth of the Loh Mee. Armed with an array of tasty ingredients such as Chinese black fungus, mushroom slices. meatballs and deep fried anchovies, the Loh Pan Mee is one dish many will find hard to put down.
