Upon entering this popular coffee shop located at a busy road junction, you will be greeted with the bold aroma of Claypot Rice and the frantic juggling of many claypots cooking away at the same time. Apart from that, you will see signs posted on the wall warning you to behave yourselves or risk being charged for bad behaviour. Not only that, but all the staffs wear a black T shirt with the cheeky caption, ‘if you are arrogant, grouchy, irritable or just a pain in the ass, there will be a RM10 charge for putting up with your shit’. However, this ‘food nazi’ impression is nothing but a marketing ploy, as the friendly boss admits that no one has ever been charged the extra RM10.

Their Claypot Chicken Rice is skilfully cooked from scratch over traditional charcoal fire and is only made when an order is placed. Therefore, there is an expected waiting time of around 30 minutes. However, the wait is definitely worth it as the rice is fluffy and aromatic, warming up your tummy. The combination of marinated chunky chicken pieces and thin slices of waxed pork sausages (lup cheong) perfectly contribute to the overall flavour of the dish. Pieces of salted fish and chilli with soy sauce is served alongside and can be added if you are looking to add a salty or slightly spicy twist to your meal. The rice at the bottom of the pot is slightly charred with a crunchy texture, which is definitely worth every scrap.
