As Ipoh is quite famous for its Bean Sprout Chicken dish, there are times where we often wonder which areas are the well-acclaimed ones. This particular one at Buntong should be visited for justification. Restaurant Ayam Tauke is located at Jalan Guntong (Nearby Caltex Petrol Station Buntong) and the owners operate from their own house; catering for the residences nearby. Although it is opened both indoors and outdoors, the restaurant is always experiencing a full house! Even so, that did not stop anybody from being a loyal customer towards the place.
The place is famous of course, for its renowned tender and sweet Steamed Chicken and its fat and crunchy Taugeh (bean sprouts). The chef’s special homemade chili mixed with a hint of ginger helps enhances the taste for a more aromatic texture. The restaurant also serves Kuey Teow Soup, Pork Balls, Char Siew and Pork Liver as side dishes to go with rice. Either that, you also have the choice of choosing two types of Hor Fun as well: both dried or the soup version. The dried Hor Fun which is seasoned with soy sauce and sesame oil is mostly recommended for those who want the taste of the chicken to linger on their taste buds a little longer.
If you are ever near the housing area, pop by earlier for a simple yet satisfying dinner and have yourself blown away with the true taste of Ipoh. Despite the long waiting time, the food is certainly worth the delay.
