Located at the other side of the industrial territory in Penang’s Bayan Lepas, Wakaba Japanese Noodle Restaurant has been around to cater for mainly Ramen and Udon lovers with their large range of flavours and combinations. From the simplest form like the Tempura Udon to the delectable Chasyu Shoyu Ramen, one can definitely be satisfied by with the amount of alternatives available.

Specialising in making their own noodles and producing fresh ones every single day, it is quite tricky to make a decision especially if you are not used to having so many selections of both ramen and udon or even the soba. Nevertheless, a safe option is always around the corner where you can try the simple Miso Ramen. This tasty bowl comes with slices of pork, a handful of seaweed and spinach plus a few pieces of fish cakes. The miso soup has a very distinctive taste to it that is made by fermented soybean and other ingredients. If you prefer some spice in your soup, go for the Karamiso Ramen which in this case, the additional ‘kara’ in front means ‘spicy’. The chili is evenly added into the miso soup and therefore establishes a rather flavourful dish together with the other usual ingredients.

For soba dishes, you can opt for the Tenzaru Soba which is Deep-fried Tempura with chilled noodles. Cold soba can sometimes be a treat if put together in a proper manner with the suitable ingredients.

For those of you who are not fans of noodles but is still interested to see what other choices of food Wakaba has to offer, they have some sushi choices as well as the bento or any rice sets served with different sides.
