The Settlement Hotel is situated at the fringe of the Portuguese
Settlement in Malacca. What used to be a run-down 1960s four-storey government building
was turned into a quaint boutique hotel. Priding themselves in their motto to provide the best
service to customers, most patrons have only praises to sing. By comparison of
other 4-star hotels, this one may be small but complete with the necessities of
a hotel, thus enough to warrant the hotel the 4-star title.
Located a few kilometres away from the city centre, The
Settlement Hotel provides tranquillity away from the noisy main city. However,
knowing that guests would want to explore the Malacca and its rich history, the
hotel offers a free shuttle bus service. The customer service at this hotel is worthy of its name and branding
with a 24-hour front desk operations and the well-trained staff.
There are three places to dine at The Settlement Hotel,
The Dining Room, the Rooftop Garden, and The Long Table Bar. As the name
suggests, The Dining Room provides a culinary experience that rivals the
richness of Malacca itself. While various cuisines are available here, Malacca
Nyonya, Portuguese, Chinese and Indian to name a few, the place was also
decorated tastefully with the addition of traditional artefacts that seem to
tell a story. The Rooftop Garden is for those looking to enjoy nature in an
open space while being served light snacks and refreshments, and The Long Table
Bar houses what said to be the longest table in Malaysia, carved from a single tree trunk,
perfect for a memorable gathering. The Settlement Hotel proves that
size does not matter and good services do.
