Turkish Istanbul Cafe is located in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, secluded in one of the less-travelled back streets. Do not be fooled by its unassuming facade, as it does serve authentic Turkish dishes, desserts and drinks. Staying true to the middle-eastern hospitality, the owner and staffs are extremely friendly and will do their best to explain the dishes to you. The interior of the cafe is simple and comfortable typical of most Malaysian cafes with almost no traces of its Turkish origins.
The food here offers a great value of money. In the morning, you can opt for their Turkish Breakfast, which puts a middle-eastern twist on the traditional western-style big breakfast. It consists of beautifully runny eggs, spicy chicken kebab, beef peperoni, hashed potato, tomato, feta cheese and flat bread. If you are an egg-lover, do also sample their Menemen. It consists of eggs scrambled with tomato, green pepper and onion.
The Wraps here are also a must-try, served in the styles of kebabs and shawarmas. Depending on your choice, it consists of lamb, chicken of beef neatly wrapped in pita bread along with some greens. It comes with fries and salad. If you are a fan of meatballs, you can sample their lamb or beef Kofte Meatballs. Served with an ample amount of mashed potato and rice, the meatballs are tender and juicy.
For dessert, do opt for their Rice Pudding. It is showered with tangy citrus, going perfectly with the sweet and savoury taste of the pudding. When it comes to beverages, their Turkish Coffee is extremely strong and will definitely give you a kick.
