KyoChon is a chain of Korean restaurants specialising in South Korean fried chicken. Founded in 1991 with its headquarters in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, KyoChon is one of the largest Korean fried chicken restaurants in South Korea. The brand is so successful, that they’ve managed to become the grand prize winners for the Korean Consumer Forum for 5 years straight.

The success has led to them opening outlets in other countries that include the United States and Malaysia. The Malaysian branch opened in December 2013, and has since spawned three outlets (Pavilion KL, 1Utama, Menara Hap Seng). The interior leans towards the trendy side, with a mixture of wooden furniture, brightly-lid bulbs and industrial-like black hued backdrop.

As far as the chicken dishes are concerned, KyoChon has them the special care and attention required by using canola oil to fry their fresh, drug-free chickens, as well as using only natural ingredients without the aid of added MSG to flavour the chicken dishes. The fried chicken is separated into wingettes & drummetes, as well as drumsticks. They come in three sizes (regular, medium, large), and are then served in a number of different sauces, namely the original soy series, red series, honey series, and the salsal series.

For those who are looking for a more substantial meal than just fried chicken, KyoChon also has items like chicken bulgogi, dakgalbi grilled chicken, fried rice, kimchi soup, and much more. To wash all this fried chicken down, KyoChon also has a decent variety of teas to enjoy.

So if you’re looking to try out South Korean fried chicken, KyoChon is definitely a great place to start.
