Udon is among the triumph temptations of Japanese cuisine. It’s an everyday staple in their archipelago as its cheap, comforting, fulfilling and comes in plenty of varieties, somewhat like pasta but a fatter version made from wheat flour. As any famous noodles, it has frolicked region by region with a license to turn creative and compelling. It’s commonly served in a soup and does not require many frills, just a few splashes of greens, dashi, and chopped scallions is good to go. It may not be as ubiquitous as it is in the Land of the Rising Sun yet renowned spots below pampers your palate without having you even think about getting on a plane.
