Many outside of Sabah are not aware of the existence of Tenom Noodles, which ultimately is another Malaysian noodle dish. Tenom is a town in Sabah and most Hakka people of the state are from the town. Tenom Noodle is essentially a Hakka dish created in Tenom, hence the name. It is a simple noodle dish that is paired with different choices of ingredients such as pork and beef. The determinant of the dish lies in the noodle, which is fundamentally Hakka noodle. As we go on our quest to discover Kota Kinabalu, here are the best Tenom Noodles in the area!

Kedai Kopi Kiong Kee
Kiong Kee is a typical but classic Chinese coffee shop that serves a wide variety of hawker dishes. Amongst curry mee, kon lou mee, pan mee and such, we especially have our eyes set on the Tenom Noodles. The Tenom dish is brought to KK by none other than Tenom's very own Foh Lee Baru which gained itself a remarkable reputation for the local dish back in Tenom. Yup! KK-lites no longer have to travel down to Tenom just for amazing Tenom Noodles!

Tenom Kah Hiong Nyuk Yuen Chun Kian
Love soupy noodles? Check out this spot for some awesome Tenom noodles - broth-based style! This restaurant is a small and humble one. Thus, only Baby Boomers typically know of this place but hey, that is precisely why we love it! Because we know how fussy our grandparents are.

Kedai Kopi Tenom
Kedai Kopi Tenom does not only house the local noodle dish of Tenom Noodles but also many other stalls that serve a variety of Malaysian hawker goodies. While choices are vast here, we certainly are not spoilt for choice because we absolutely adore the tenom noodles here. The key to the success of the dish is in the sauces that they make.

Kedai Kopi Syn Lee
Kedai Kopi Syn Lee is a very renowned restaurant for Sabah's best foods. The spot is incredibly popular amongst all generations hence resulting in the constant family crowds that gather here. The Tenom Noodles pictured above is especially tantalizing and pleasing to our tastebuds. The texture of the noodles are smooth and springy but yet absorbent to the extent that it takes in some of that delicious sauce into its body –echoing more flavors with every spoonful.

How Lee Coffee Shop
Perfect for night crawlers, How Lee Coffee Shop opens from 6PM till late. The restaurant is a go-to hub for Chinese porridge and of course, Tenom Noodles. We love both these signature dishes but gotta put the spotlight on the Tenom Noodles this time for their nicely made springy noodles, perfectly cooked roast pork and palatable flavours.
