Written by Updated ago

Some people prefer the leaner parts such as the shoulder steak and spare ribs, while others prefer the fattier parts like the belly. If you have ever been to any Chinese restaurants selling Bak Kut Teh, pork knuckles is common but The Champ's pork knuckles are cooked in a big stainless steel pot for almost 72 hours in order for the it to be tender and braised perfectly. After it is served, they will pour the alcohol onto the pork knuckles and cook it right in front of you! It is recommended to dip in soy sauce if you find it not savoury enough for your tastebuds.

If you devote your taste buds and appetite to pork and a lot of it, El Cerdo will certainly not disappoint. Not only is their restaurant full of portraits and decorations of cute pigs, its menu is full of it too! The pork knuckle here is decent; crispy (but a little hard and chewy) and nicely cut for the ease of eating, it’s a perfect place for those who love to have everything porky!

    Tips

Make a phone call for reservations, park at the basement parking further up to Jalan Alor as it’s cheaper than other places.

This restaurant is slowly gaining popularity and it’s also being compared to other famous beer houses and restaurants here in KL. The pork knuckle here is huge and is able to serve at least 4-7 people. Swamped with mash potatoes, vegetables and brown sauce at the bottom, it’s a combination that suits those who love their pork knuckles crispy but at the same time soft with the brown sauce that comes below it.
    Tips

Healy Mac's Irish Bar & Restaurant

Healy Mac’s is another pork place at Changkat worth visiting. The unique thing about Healy Mac’s pork knuckle is that it’s organic. At a whopping 1.3kg-1.7kg, it’s a dish to share with a few people, depending on how big your love is for pork. The skin is crispy and the meat is tender. It’s served with loads of sauerkraut, raisin coleslaw and roasted potatoes, it also has a few types of sauce for dips at the side; apple sauce, red wine sauce, black pepper sauce and English mustard for that tangy aftertaste.
    Tips

Not very suitable for dates as the music tends to get a bit loud. It’s also a pub.

    Things to expect

Loud music, loads of beers and bar music!

Now, other than Leonardo’s, there can’t be any better places that serve pork in a huge variety of cooking styles. Bah Kut Teh, Hokkien Mee, pork pizza and crispy bacon lollipops are one of the few main attractions here in this pork infested kitchen and restaurant! The pork knuckle here is a bestseller. In most places, sauerkraut usually comes in a light yellowish color but here at Leonardo’s, it comes with red sauerkraut and garlic herb roasted potatoes at the side. Crispy on the outside, moist and chewy on the inside – who can ask for more?

Lau Heong Seafood RestaurantNon halal 01f78899591256b47a2708a65f6538333b86089a30fbd22545a41deece4ea490

Lau Heong is famous for its seafood but today, the attention will go to their deep fried pork knuckle. Besides being only deep fried and crispy on the outside, it is also salted to give that extra flavour into the pork skin. The pork knuckle is full of flavour and it comes on some tomato-ish, curry kind of gravy. It’s not spicy and it’s more sourish and on the sweet side.
    Tips

Ask for the gravy to be put at the side if you don’t like the sauce interfering with the crispiness of the pork knuckle.

    Things to expect

    Lots of tempting, fresh seafood.
