A dish that one should never forget trying when
visiting Sarawak is the well-known Kolo Mee (also known as Mi Kolok). Fret not, the famous springy egg
noodles coated with sauce is also available elsewhere in the country. Other
than the customary Red Kolo Mee, the sweet and fragrant dish is also served in
other varieties, typically either in its original colour, or black (coated with
vegetable oil or soy sauce instead of the usual red-coloured lard dripping from
BBQ pork). The latter variation is also more common in pork-free and halal eateries.

Restoran Orang Kampung
One special thing about the Kolo Mee served here is that they made the noodles themselves. In fact, Restoran Orang Kampung actually started as the supplier for other kolo mee stalls in JB. As the restaurant practises pork-free environment, Kolo Mee’s greatest company - pork cha siew - is replaced with slices of chicken thigh marinated at the restaurant.
