Traditionally, high tea was a combination of the afternoon tea and evening meal for the working class served between 5PM and 7PM which included hearty foods that were practical and filling for workers when they came home after a day of hard labour; which of course was washed down with servings of tea. Nowadays, high tea is an elegant affair with dainty Chinaware and delectable treats served usually on a three-tier stand.     Carcosa Seri Negara is known for serving one of the finest afternoon teas in Kuala Lumpur. This former official residence of the highest British representatives of the Malay states exudes charm and makes for a perfect afternoon colonial getaway. You may choose either the English or Malay set; whereby both comes with three-tier delectables, as well as a pot of tea of your choice. The English set comes with Open Tuna With Sour Bread, Croissant Smoked Salmon Sandwich, Chicken Pie With Wild Mushroom, Fruit Cake, Apple Crumble, Fresh Fruit Tartlet .Carrot Cheese Cake, Creme Brulee and Chocolate Brownies. You may choose either the Plain Scone or Raisin Scone. The scones are amazing. Crisp on the outside, but it literally melts in the mouth! It is served with clotted cream and strawberry jam. If you’re up for some Asian treats, then try out the Malay set. The first tier comes with Pulut Pandan, homemade white pudding with chicken floss and kuih. The next tier comes with Pisang Goreng, Cucur Udang and Sardine Curry Puff. The final tier has Chicken Satay, Ubi Kayu Rebus Kelapa Manis, Murtabak Kecil Jeruk Bawang and also a bowl of Malay Fried Beehoon. You would definitely be spoilt for choice with these Asian-Western delights!
    Tips

    Have your tea at the verandah or while sitting in The Drawing Room overlooking the hotel’s lush garden.

    It is usually full, especially during the weekends; best make a reservation before heading down.
