Best High Teas in Ipoh

Written by Updated ago

Typically consumed by the working class before dinnertime, a high tea session usually consists of a hot dish followed by sweet desserts. The term was 'invented' by Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford who is said to have started the English tradition in the early 1840's. Back then, dinner was typically served much later in the evening compared to our modern society's habits of having dinner as early as 6:00PM. Therefore, to tame that growling stomach, the Duchess had lighter meals before dinnertime and called it tea. Today, high tea is more class-friendly with more eateries having recognized the potential market for high tea such as these ones in Ipoh.

    The Limestone's Fine Dining Restaurant

Don't let the name of the restaurant intimidate you. While The Limestone is a 'fine dining restaurant', prices are actually very affordable. With its signature contemporary French cuisine, the restaurant also serves American breakfasts, some Italian, some Spanish and vegetarian dishes. The Limestone has been acclaimed to have excellent service, palatable food and reasonable prices. On Sundays, their special Brunch sets come in three beautiful tiers of little treats depending on which set you order. The Sunday Brunch sets include small substantial delights in the likes of lamb pie, quiche, turkey ham potato muffin, salmon carpaccio, foie gras, cheese gipfel, scones with mushrooms (yes, you read that right) and a platter of assorted desserts such as little cakes and tarts. Not a fan of hi-tea? Not an issue here. Just try their equally incredible a la carte dishes!
