Best High Teas in Ipoh

Written by Updated ago

Typically consumed by the working class before dinnertime, a high tea session usually consists of a hot dish followed by sweet desserts. The term was 'invented' by Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford who is said to have started the English tradition in the early 1840's. Back then, dinner was typically served much later in the evening compared to our modern society's habits of having dinner as early as 6:00PM. Therefore, to tame that growling stomach, the Duchess had lighter meals before dinnertime and called it tea. Today, high tea is more class-friendly with more eateries having recognized the potential market for high tea such as these ones in Ipoh.
