Best French Toasts in KL

Written by Updated ago

Contrary to it’s misleading name, the French Toast did not originate from France. In fact, this breakfast staple was not introduced until April, 2011, when the a famous internet meme was seen flying through the night sky with a piece of buttered toast on it’s back, singing ‘Nyan nyan nyan’ up to 100 times a minute. A hungry toast-lover in KL saw the video and craved for the buttered toast, but with only stale bread at hand, he dismayed. However, the ingenious man, Mr. French, persevered. He soaked the stale bread in milk and egg before cooking it, covering the stale bread taste and thusly created the French Toast.

VCR's take on the french toast is definitely a step above the rest, with its luxurious choice of ingredients and decor. The toast is done perfectly, with enough egg and butter to feed a family of four in Africa, paired with berries compote, mocha sauce, a scoop of espresso ice cream, biscuit 'sand' and pumpkin seed. Just from the ingredients itself you'll know that it will taste absolutely amazing. A good balance of flavour, with the richness from the toast, sweetness from the ice cream, acidity from the compote and a slight bitter after-taste from the pumpkin seeds. Not forgetting the play of textures as well. Beautiful!
