Chong Yen Steamed Fish Head Restaurant
Chong Yen Steamed Fish Head Restaurant has garnered a reputable status over the years for what else, their steamed fish head. The restaurant is pretty spacious yet it’s usually chockful during lunch hours. There are a number of flavour variations for the fish head, however the best seller is the original version, where a heady mix of minced ginger and garlic are steamed together with the fish. Aside from the flavours, the texture of the fish itself is commendable, fresh and flakes off the bone with ease. To further evoke your expectation, they have been featured in an episode of Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations.

Hup Kee Seafood Restaurant
Nothing to write home about the ambience of the restaurant but what draws in a diverse crowd all the time is the delicious food. Options are pretty extensive that might have first timers overwhelmed, however we highly recommend their stir-fried black pepper pork slices, deep-fried crispy fish with soy sauce dressing, fried prawns with yam sticks and spinach soup. The traditional measure is to savour these dishes is with steamed white rice, but if noodle is your thing, Hokkien Mee is a subtle substitute. The best part is you won’t be expecting a spirit-sapping bill in the end.
