Kar Heong in SS14 serves one of the best chicken rice to hit our shores. Their authentic Ipoh influenced chicken rice is served steaming hot with crunchy bean sprouts and tender chicken. The Canteen
The chicken rice served at The Canteen courtesy of the A’ Famosa Chicken Rice stall definitely delivers on all the essentials of this local Hainanese classic. The dish features a few pieces of poached or roasted chicken depending on your choice, a plate of oiled rice which can be switched with chicken rice balls (which are unique to Melaka for the most part), a decent portion of bean sprouts garnished with fried shallots, and a side of soup, chilli sauce, and garlic sauce. As far as flavours go, it has the chicken flavoured richness you look for in the rice. On top of that, the bean sprouts are well seasoned and are crunchy while the chicken is succulent and is a pleasure to dig into.
