Indian Kitchen

halalIndian Kitchen is known for its slew of Northern Indian food, with their palak paneer, tandoori dishes, naan, kulcha, and much more. Their selection of chicken curries will surely impress you in a similar fashion. A great example of this is the Chicken Lababdar, which is a thick, spicy chicken curry with boneless grilled chicken sauteed in an onion and tomato gravy laced with spices, cream and nuts. Not only does it have a decent amount of heat, it’s incredibly rich and creamy with the use of cream and nuts, and has plenty of flavour coming predominantly from the onion and tomato gravy base.

Vishalatchi Food Catering

halalBeing a well known name in the Chettinad cuisine fold in Kuala Lumpur, it is only natural to expect a fiery plate of chicken curry to be served here. The spice levels in the chicken curry here are certainly greater than most, upholding the Chettinad tradition. The great thing is the spice does not get in the way of juiciness and the succulence of the chicken pieces, which have absorbed all the wonderful flavours from the spices and herbs. On top of that, it’s a real treat to soak the chicken curry in all its glory in a big mound of steaming hot rice, giving you the delightful banana leaf experience.

Santa Chapati House
Santa Chapati House has been a household name when it comes to chapati and Indian food in KL for about 3 decades. Naturally, the chicken curry here comes along for the ride, especially their chicken varuval. One thing to note about the chicken varuval here is that it came in a reddish-brown gravy, which is in slight contrast to most servings of chicken varuval out there which are usually darker in colour. The chicken pieces themselves are incredibly tender, making it very easy to tear off and mix with a mouthful of curry and chapati. The chicken has also absorbed all the aromatic blend of spices and herbs that go into making this plate of chicken varuval, ultimately giving a pleasurable bite.

Amarin Heavenly Thai
If you’re looking to satiate that chicken curry fix with a Thai approach after shopping in Midvalley Megamall, Amarin Heavenly Thai is certainly the place to go. There are two chicken curry dishes served here, namely the yellow chicken curry, and the quintessentially Thai green curry. The green curry here has braised chicken with bamboo, bell pepper, peas, and sweet basil, which is then slow cooked in a coconut milk base. The hints of sweet basil is very prominent in this curry, as well as the flavours from the bell peppers and other spices. The amount of coconut cream used is just the right amount to make sure that the spice plays an important role in the dish, but not to the point that it can become overwhelming.

Rayong Thai
The green and red chicken curry served at Rayong Thai certainly stand out from the rest of its contemporaries. Like most portions of green curry, it will consist of of brinjals, long beans, peas, and peppers among a list of ingredients. One of the main reasons this bowl of green chicken curry stands out is that it is a lot lighter than most bowls of green curry, which is a welcome change to the more creamy servings of this dish. That said, the spice and flavours from all fresh ingredients are still very prominent and will deliver the punch that one desires in a serving of green curry.

The bowl has small chunks of chicken neatly arranged on top of ingredients like chillis and peppers, with a drizzle of cream smeared on top of it, as well as some Thai basil and a lone French fry for garnish. As far as flavours go, this bowl of green curry certainly has it.
