Kimberly Street Char Koay Teow
Located just outside Kedai Kopi Sin Guat Keong along Kimberley Street, this famous stall is widely revered for its char kuey teow mixed with mantis prawns. The char kuey teow itself is full of wok hei and blessed with a distinctively fragrant taste thanks to the use of a duck egg. Of course, the additional ingredients of succulent mantis and regular prawns helps enhance the richness of the char kuey teow flavour. Also, the employment of bean sprouts and chives add a nice textural contrast to the greasy yet tasty dish. So join the beeline and bloat your tummy!

Sg. Dua Char Koay Teow (Telur Ayam Di Basuh)Certified
halalUnlike the usual dry version of Penang’s char kuey teow, Sg. Dua Char Koay Teow at Butterworth offers an alternative “wet” variation. For the uninitiated, the “wet” version refers to the gravy-based char kuey teow. The key here is the gravy that marries the whole dish together with spicy and savoury flavours. In fact, even with the normal serving, they are never skimp with the prawns and cockles. However, many do order the special version to multiply the amount of seafood goodness on the plate. Best enjoyed with pickled chillies.

Char Koay Teow (Stall 107) @ Gurney Drive Hawker Centre
Gurney Drive may be one of the most overrated place in Penang, but there is still a particular stall that serves pretty decent good Char Kuay Teow. Known as Stall 107, their version of the Char Kuey Teow is fragrantly fried to cater to so many customers, especially tourists. Customers can choose from either the normal chicken egg or something a little more luxurious like the duck egg. Accompanied by a generous amount of beansprouts, each plate is truly a delight on its own. It may not have been the best in the city, but it certainly is pretty good.

Siam Road Char Koay Teow
Considered the pioneer for charcoal-fried Kuay Teow as well as one of its main factor of attraction, this humble stall at Siam Road has gotten quite a number of locals and tourists, queuing for it. An elderly uncle, and probably the creator is the only one that mans the store, whipping out delicious plates of Char Kuey Teow accompanied by a handful of medium-sized prawns and Chinese sausages. Finding the stall wouldn't be easy, so just spot the one with the longest queue and you're most probably at the right line. There's also a coffeeshop by the name Hock Ban Hin nearby therefore to ease your consumption time.
