Largely considered a hidden gem
amongst the crowded restaurants and music-blasting clubs or bars in Changkat
Bukit Bintang is Black Forest Kuala Lumpur, a German restaurant and pub. Black
Forest opened in June 2013 and is the latest addition to Masterchef Werner
Kuhn’s glowing portfolio where he focuses on great authentic German food
especially from the South West side, Black Forest (hence the name of the
restaurant).
While at first glance, one might
think it is only a good drinking place, but don’t be fooled as there’s far more
to enjoy at the restaurant, especially when it comes to the food, which
encompasses dinner and supper meals. For starters, there’s the Spanish serrano
ham served with rock melon and garden greens, French pork rillettes with pig
trotter terrine, Spanish salami, pork liver pate, and lentil vegetable broth
with wiener sausages to name a few. For a more substantial meal, there are
pastas like the seafood spaghetti tossed in lobster cream, pork cordon bleu, German
style boneless ham knuckle cured and served with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes
(a big favourite at Black Forest), the black forest burger, French fries tossed
with spicy sausage, onion and chilli flakes, and a whole lot more. Black Forest
is also known for food challenges like their challenge that requires
participants to down 1.5kgs of sausages.
So if you’re looking for
authentic German food, as well as some nice, cold German beers and schnapps to
go along with it, Black Forest Kuala Lumpur will not disappoint.
