Located near the iconic Komtar tower and along the same road as Kwong Wah Yit Poh newspaper in Lebuh Presgrave lies 888 Hokkien Mee, a roadside stall serving Penang Hokkien mee. Not to be confused with the thick soy sauce based Hokkien mee, Penang Hokkien mee is what's known as prawn mee to folks outside the Pearl of the Orient. From the continued support of regular customers and tourists, the stall has further expanded by opening another stall in Bayan Lepas.

The Hokkien mee here is quite simple for the most part and very flavourful, with the very same ingredients that were used when the dish first came into existence in the 1940's. The broth is still made up of prawn heads, while the addition of pork slices, chilli paste, small prawns, and watercress leaves are also thrown into the mix together with wheat or rice noodles. 888 Hokkien Mee also adds a few extra ingredients that stretch the boundaries of this classic dish, be it roast pork, braised pork trotter, pork skin, pork intestines, pork ribs, large fish balls, eggs, and few others.

Should you be looking for something thicker and not nearly as spicy, the stall also sells loh mee. A lot of the ingredients used in the Hokkien mee can be found here, and similar to the Hokkien mee, you can add any ingredients you see fit to make your bowl of loh mee memorable.

So if you're looking to try out some of the best Penang Hokkien mee available in the state, the 888 Hokkien mee stall is certainly the place to go.
