When Suki-ya was introduced in Malaysia, people were anxious to try. Queues lasted as long as 20-30 minutes and the fight for unlimited meat and veges were simply a horrible sight. The smell of their broth was also used to draw potential hungry customers. Suki-ya provides a good consistency and freshness on all their raw meat products along with self-service salad, vegetables and sushi counter. There’s also free flow of drinks which includes Coke, Sprite, Ice Lemon Tea which was fantastic because not many shabu-shabu buffet offer them.

    Plus One Shabu Shabu

Unlike most shabu shabu restaurant that are usually Japanese and/or buffet oriented, One Plus Shabu Shabu follows the footsteps of the Hong Kong Individual steamboat style. Hence, instead of several people sharing 1 pot and possibly 2 broth, they now each get to choose the type of broth they like alongside the set they desire. Gone are those moments where one fight for meat as everything is right infront of you. Great for those who likes to split the bill, but not as friendly or convenient in a family dinner.

It’s not the first time we encounter a conveyor belt shabu-shabu restaurant but this is definite one of the few. Though not as appetizing as it looks, it certainly is quite convenient. Gone are those days where we had to stand up and walk to the counter and select our dishes. It’s simple, straight-forwarded and served directly in front of us! What more can we ask for?
