Indeed, Loh Bak needs no introduction in the food capital of Malaysia, where it is a common item in the street food scene - pork marinated in Chinese five-spice powder, mixed with various ingredients such as water chestnuts, jicama, carrot and onions, snugly rolled up with a sheet of bean curd and fried till crispy. Somewhat resembling spring rolls albeit much darker in colour, loh bak are typically sold alongside other deep-fried items such as sausages, fish cakes and prawn fritters.       Tucked in a residential area, this coffee shop has the ambience of a regular kopitiam with plastic chairs and tables, buzzing customers and endless varieties of local delights. You’ll definitely be spoilt with choices but when your appetite triggers for deep-fried goodies, locate the loh bak stall. The platter is served with tofu, prawn fritters, loh bak and cucumbers. The loh bak is meticulously marinated with Chinese five-spices, enveloped in a crunchy bean curd skin. Dip your slices of loh bak in their chili sauce and sweet sauce; it’s just irresistibly good.
