Best Boat Noodles in Johor Bahru (JB)

Written by Updated ago

Boat noodles are a Thai street-food staple and it’s truly one-of-a-kind that tickles your curiosity at once. Thai fare is known for hearty portions, one bowl is sinfully satisfying, unlike this latter that requires two to three gulps and the bowl is polished clean. Tracking back history, it was original hawked from small boats on canals, therefore, to avoid spillage, it’s kept small. Staying true to its origins, many restaurants have followed the similar path; after all stacking up bowls is fun (Instagram lovers knows best)! Johoreans it’s your turn to slurp and stack as many as possible, challenges like this is an epicurean’s dream.

    Aroi Boat Noodle

A brightly-lid and cozy restaurant that has been reaping the headlines for boat noodles. Upon entering, you’ll certainly be awed with undulating colourful bowls and raining orders, which literally invites you to join the slurping party. Glass noodles, vermicelli, and kuey teow are the choice of noodles that can be served with soup, tomyam and dry. Each bowl is piled with a heap of greens, minced meat and bouncy meatballs. The real deal here is pairing your bowls with a variety of meats, think pork kebabs, pork ball soup, sweet and sour sausage as well as satay rolls.

Another reliable contender in the boat noodles scene, with branches sprawling all over Johor Bahru and patrons are all in smiles. Churning out two impeccable choices, Ayutthaya and Pathumthani, it’s tough to select the winner. If you’re leaning towards a spicy spin, opt for their Ayutthaya, while its counterpart is milder in heat scale with herby overtones. Moreover, their grilled meats that are threaded onto a skewer are a big perk here, not to be missed. The never-ending crowd is the best testament to its peaking popularity.
