The version of baked eggs served at VCR differs slightly from the usual ones we’re used to. Instead of your typical Shakshuka style where everything is baked inside a hot plate and topped with loads of cheese, the Turkish Baked Eggs’ main ingredient are whole chickpeas. These are mixed with a tomato based sauce, plenty of onions and chicken chipolata sausages. Eggs are poached perfectly and served with sourdough bread, baked perfectly with a buttery centre. Would be great if they added more of that tomato based sauce and cheese to give it that ‘oomph’.
    Tips

Parking can be a hassle (not to mention you’ll actually get summoned if you park illegally), but VCR has special rates for those who park at the Swiss Garden Residence. Enquire with a member of staff to find out how you can get these rates.

The café is usually packed in the morning and throughout the afternoon.

Another ‘must-try’ item on the dessert menu (if your stomach has the room) known as ‘The King’. Guess the name speaks for itself: it’s a chocolate banana peanut butter cake that is said to have the ability to rock your socks.
